Description
Cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum) is a tropical spice from the ginger family and has been prized in South Asia and the Middle East for centuries. The green pods contain small black seeds with an intensely aromatic flavor: warm, spicy, slightly sweet, and with a subtle citrusy freshness.
Cardamom plays an important role in the culinary traditions of India and the Arab world — from chai tea and coffee to sweet dishes and savory rice recipes. In Scandinavia, too, cardamom has been used for generations in baking traditions such as cinnamon and cardamom bread.
Our whole cardamom pods retain their natural aromatic oils, giving them a particularly fragrant flavor in infusions, blends, and dishes. You can use the pods whole, crush them for extra aroma, or process the seeds separately.
