Green Matcha – China – organic green tea
Matcha... green gold, real slow tea.
Matcha originated in China around the year 1000. It was not until several centuries later that Matcha came to Japan. This Matcha comes from the Chinese province of Zhejiang. The tea leaves are slowly grown in the shade in spring, giving them a natural sweetness. After picking, the leaves are withered, causing them to lose about 30% of their moisture. The leaves are steam-treated for 2 minutes to stop oxidation and then ground, keeping the temperature of the millstones at 0 °C.
