Description
Cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum) is a tropical spice from the ginger family and has been prized for centuries in South Asia and the Middle East. The green pods contain small black seeds with an intensely aromatic flavour: warm, spicy, slightly sweet and with a subtle citrus-like freshness.
Cardamom plays an important role in the culinary traditions of India and the Arab world — from chai tea and coffee to sweet dishes and savoury rice recipes. In Scandinavia, too, cardamom has been used for generations in baking traditions such as cinnamon and cardamom bread.
Our cardamom seeds retain their natural aromatic oils, giving them a particularly fragrant flavour in infusions, blends and dishes.
