Description
Mistletoe (Viscum album), native to European deciduous forests, is a striking semi-parasitic plant that grows at the top of trees and has held a special place in folklore and rituals throughout the centuries. The plant is traditionally seen as a symbol of protection, connection and winter customs – known from Scandinavian and Celtic traditions in which mistletoe was hung during midwinter celebrations.
The leaves and finely chopped twigs have a soft, herbal aroma and a mild flavour, which is why mistletoe is mainly used as a decorative ingredient or subtle component in herbal infusions and blends. Its neutral flavour makes mistletoe easy to combine with other herbs and a great base for winter blends or mild evening teas.
