Description
Hibiscus (Hibiscus sabdariffa) is the dried calyx of a tropical plant from the mallow family. The flower grows mainly in warm areas of Africa, Asia and Central America and is known for its intense ruby red colour.
When the calyxes are poured over with hot water, they produce a strikingly deep red infusion with an invigorating, slightly tart flavour reminiscent of red berries or cranberries. Hibiscus is delicious on its own, but also as a colourful addition to fruity blends or as a base for iced tea.
