Description
Lemon verbena (Aloysia citrodora) is a fragrant herb known for its fresh, lemony aroma and soft, floral flavour.
The plant originates from South America and has been appreciated in Europe since the 18th century as an herbal tea and flavouring.
In French and Belgian tea culture, lemon verbena is often referred to as verveine, although herbal tea almost always contains Aloysia citrodora and not Verbena officinalis (verbena).
Lemon verbena is a wonderfully refreshing herb for any time of day — both hot and cold. The infusion has a refined citrus note with a slightly floral character and a soft aftertaste.
Lemon verbena combines well with herbs such as mint, lemongrass or lemon balm, and is also the perfect base for an invigorating iced tea.
