Description
Lady's mantle is an elegant plant from the rose family (Rosaceae), recognisable by its fan-shaped leaves on which dewdrops collect in the morning.
In the Middle Ages, this phenomenon was seen as something magical — it was believed that this dew was 'heavenly water', used by alchemists in their quest for purification and rejuvenation. The name Alchemilla therefore refers to alchemy and the idea of transformation. In herbal culture, lady's mantle was considered a protective herb that symbolised feminine power, care and balance.
The taste is mild, slightly spicy and pleasantly green — it combines well with mint, lemon balm or camomile.
