Description

Echinacea Purpurea, also known as Purple Coneflower, is a perennial herb native to the prairies of North America. The plant is notable for its purple flowers and strong, earthy scent.

Long before Echinacea became known in Europe, the indigenous peoples of the North American prairies — including the Lakota, Cheyenne and Sioux — had been using the plant for centuries. They considered it a 'sun herb', closely associated with vitality and recovery. The distinctive flower, which grows facing the sun, was seen as a symbol of resilience and protection.

In the 19th century, Echinacea also became known in Europe, thanks to travelling apothecaries and botanist-physicians such as H.C.F. Meyer, who described and promoted the plant as a promising herb from the 'New World'. Since then, Echinacea has gained a firm place in both European phytotherapy and the world of herbal teas.

Although modern science remains cautious about its actual effectiveness, the plant continues to inspire as a symbol of natural resilience and the connection between humans and nature.

Echinacea is valued as a natural herbal tea with an earthy, slightly bitter taste, which combines well with mint, lemongrass or ginger for a refreshing twist. The infusion has a mild, herbal taste with earthy and floral notes. Delicious as a pure herbal tea or as an addition to your own blend.
