Darjeeling First Flush 2023 DJ1 ‘Monteviot’ (b/org)
You have the Beaujolais Primeur, the Hollandse Nieuwe, the first asparagus…. and you have: Darjeeling First Flush, the first spring tea from the renowned Darjeeling tea region in India, lovingly grown on the slopes of the Himalayas, highly prized and acclaimed by tea lovers around the world.
Our choice this year (again) was a very nice, organically grown DJ1 from one of the oldest and smallest tea gardens in India: Monteviot/Edenvale.
The 2022-1 FTGFOP1 Organic Monteviot DJ1. Quite a mouthful: Finest Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pecco, the longer the abbreviation, the better the tea! And a DJ1, in case you didn’t already know, is really the very first pick in the short First Flush season.
The tea has a beautiful artisanal look, is wonderfully fragrant and gives a rich full flavor, a touch nutty, with the slightly spicy character so characteristic of a Darjeeling First Flush.
