Matcha – China (g/bio)

Matcha… the green gold, true slow tea.

Matcha’s birthplace is in China, around the year 1000. Matcha only came to Japan several centuries later. This Matcha comes from the Chinese province of Zhejiang. The tea leaves are slowly shade-grown in the spring, giving them a natural sweetness. After picking, the leaves are flensed, losing about 30% in moisture. The leaves are steam-treated for 2 minutes to stop oxidation and then ground with the temperature of the grinding stones maintained at 0°C.

Upon arrival, we immediately repackage the Matcha per 600g in a resealable stand bag with grip closure and sealed. This is to protect the fragile green tea powder from outside influences as much as possible. For this reason, the Matcha is also only available in one bulk packaging unit. If you need more, simply order several 600g bags.

Preparation Tips:

• Usucha (thin tea): 2g Matcha to 70ml 75°C water, whisk frothily (W pattern) as preferred.
• Koicha (thick tea): 4g Matcha to 40ml 75°C water, stir or whisk well (O-pattern).
• Matcha Latte: Supplement Koicha with 200ml of frothy whipped hot milk. If necessary, sprinkle with a small amount of Matcha.
